Rewievs and feedback

On the 08.08.23. after the book had been on sale for a month, the first review came. It was the Danish sci-fi forum himmelskibet.dk.
Two days later, the same article was published on NyeNova.no. (Norwegian)
Reviewer Cato Pellegrini writes the following:

“The novel undeniably makes a powerful impression. Through several parallel stories, it tells a believable story that includes a wide range of characters – both humans and extraterrestrial beings. The language flows effortlessly and efficiently with quick, descriptive sentences. The book conveys cosmic visions, an extent in time and space that is unmistakably similar to those that can be found in classic science fiction – what many call a “sense of wonder”.
It is not everyday that Norwegian authors write such novels. For a long period there was practically no interest in fantastic literature at all.

J. E. Bergfjord is thus part of a literary tradition that has long roots in Norway as well. Cinnabar One thus becomes yet another sign of a genre which, against all odds, has again and again proven to be highly viable. The author’s lush imagination, solid command of language and scientific understanding emphasize that he has good prerequisites for this excellent novel to be the start of an exciting and hopefully long-lasting authorship.

Startlingly good science fiction like this doesn’t grow on trees. The book has great potential to be translated and published in other countries. May it have a large readership and a long life.”

Some of the feedback from readers on social media:

I have been reading SF books for more than 60 years. Your book is on a par with the very greatest. Arthur C. Clarke,
Isac Asimov and more. Congratulations.
I lost my desire to read when Wilbur Smith gave it up, but this book gave me back my desire to read. I like Sci-fi. but the best part is that it is very well written.
Fantastic book. I was drawn into the story from the first page. When I was done I just wanted to turn the book around and start over.Love your book. Waitng for book no. 2, and that it will be
translated to english, so Netflix will discover it.

And from the bloggers:

“This was a firework of a book. It was incredibly exciting and how the author has woven several stories into a larger event.
The book has so many good elements. It has a larger, futuristic concept. Life on other planets, exciting discoveries on Mars and artificial establishment of life.
We meet scientists, archaeologists, stargazers and a whole new race.
We get to know several characters from this society and I was completely enchanted by how the author has created a whole new civilization. Even those who have not read much science fiction will probably like this book. Incredibly happy that I had the opportunity to read this story. And I can’t wait to see what the author comes up with in the future.” Read it all here.

Cinnabar One – I want more!
Imagine the world in the 2050s. Imagine finding a mysterious spaceship on Mars. Imagine a planet far, far away and a cryptic message from the 15th century. Imagine what a fantastic story this could be. And that is exactly what debut author J.E. Bergfjord has managed to do.
Here we are served perfect science fiction on a silver platter.
I was captivated from the first page and felt a sadness when the book was finished. I would have loved to continue reading the story of everyone I have met!
The icing on the cake are the bonus pages with the author’s notes. A few, but very personal pages that allow readers to get a glimpse of the process behind the story! Now I just have to cross my fingers that Bergfjord continues to write, because I want more!”

“”Cinnabar One” is something as rare as a Norwegian sci-fi novel, where the action takes place both on Earth and in outer space. With new planets, moons, creatures, technology and spaceships, this is a truly captivating story. Anyone who loves the genre should know their time here. You shouldn’t miss this one.”
